Range Practice Drills
Below we have some links to videos of several range practice drills that will help you hone your skills for both competition and self defense. Double click the links and they should open in Windows Media Player.
El Presidente drill In this drill the shooter normally starts facing away from the targets. At the buzzer the shooter turns to face them then draws and engages as depicted. This drill is designed to help with engaging multiple targets in rapid succession as well as practicing a reload under stress (time).
Mozambique drill This drill simulates attackers who are not incapacitated by shots to the body. (Body armor or drugs) Thus requiring follow up head shots. It was named after an incident in Mozabique. The drill is often misunderstood. It is intended to be 2 rapid shots to the torso, a slight pause to evaluate the effect and a deliberate shot to the head.
Bill Drill (Stationary) The Bill Drill is intended to help you build sight picture, trigger and accuracy skills couples with speed. It is not a spray and pray tactic. Shoot only as fast as you can get "A" hits. Speed will come with practice.
Bill Drill (Moving) Same as above except it adds the complexity of retreating while firing. Distance is safety. Being able to move while at the same time affectively engaging a threat is a life saving tactic. Remember, in a real life situation, you would be a target too, and moving targets are harder to hit.
